beynac-et-cazenac, dordogne river valley

beynac-et-cazenac, not to be confused with beynac (which we learned the long way by driving to the incorrect beynac 2 hours north), is a beautiful little village in the dordogne river valley in southern france. it is actually classified as one of the most beautiful villages of france. we loved this area of france and wish we had spent a few more days to better explore the area.

at the top of the village along a cliff stands chateau de beynac, built in the 12th century.

view of the river from the top of the village.

traveling during the off-season has its perks- we were upgraded to a room with a balcony and view.

a few other villages we drove through in the dordogne area...
